Discover Teakha

Stepping into Teakha for the first time felt like taking a breather from the pace of Metro Manila without actually leaving the city. Tucked along 147 Pasig Blvd, Pasig, 1605, this tea-focused café has built a quiet reputation for doing things thoughtfully, from sourcing ingredients to how every drink is prepared. I first dropped by on a humid afternoon, mostly curious after reading a mix of glowing reviews and thoughtful critiques, and ended up staying longer than planned, watching how each cup was made with almost ritual-like care.

What immediately stands out is how seriously the team treats tea. This isn’t a place where tea is an afterthought on the menu. The selection leans heavily toward single-origin leaves, house blends, and seasonal infusions. You’ll find green, black, oolong, and herbal options, each explained in plain language so you know what you’re ordering without feeling overwhelmed. One of the staff members explained their brewing process to me, walking through water temperature, steeping time, and why certain leaves are never rushed. That attention to detail lines up with recommendations from organizations like the Tea Association of the USA, which consistently emphasizes precise brewing as key to preserving flavor and antioxidants.

During my visit, I tried their signature milk tea made with loose-leaf black tea and fresh dairy rather than powdered mixes. The result was clean, balanced, and not cloyingly sweet. It reminded me of what many tea researchers point out: high-quality leaves need less sugar because the natural flavor already carries depth. According to studies published in journals like Food Chemistry, properly brewed tea retains more polyphenols, which contribute both taste and potential health benefits. While Teakha doesn’t market itself as a health café, the approach naturally aligns with those findings.

The food menu complements the drinks instead of competing with them. Light snacks, cakes, and small plates are designed to pair with tea, not overpower it. I watched a couple nearby share desserts and discuss how each bite changed the flavor of their drinks, which is exactly the kind of experience tea professionals often talk about when discussing food pairing. This thoughtful balance is probably why so many local reviews describe the café as a place to slow down rather than rush through a quick order.

One conversation I had with a regular customer really stuck with me. She mentioned coming back weekly because of what she called handcrafted consistency. Even when the café is busy, the drinks taste the same every time. That consistency doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from staff training, standardized methods, and a clear philosophy about quality control. In the food and beverage industry, those systems are often highlighted by experts as the foundation of trust. When customers know what to expect, they’re more likely to return and recommend the place to others.

Location-wise, Teakha benefits from being accessible without feeling exposed. Pasig Boulevard can be hectic, yet once inside, the atmosphere feels calm and intentional. Seating is simple, lighting is soft, and nothing feels designed just for show. That authenticity is something many hospitality experts, including consultants from organizations like the Specialty Coffee Association, often cite as crucial for long-term success in cafés focused on craft rather than speed.

Of course, it’s fair to mention a limitation. This isn’t the spot for people looking for oversized portions or ultra-sweet, novelty drinks. The menu stays focused, and that focus might not suit every palate. Still, for anyone curious about what carefully prepared tea can taste like, or for those wanting a quiet place to meet, read, or think, it delivers exactly what it promises.

Over multiple visits, what keeps pulling me back is how the experience feels honest. From the clearly written menu to the steady hands brewing each cup, the café reflects a deep respect for tea culture without turning it into something intimidating. That balance of approachability and expertise is rare, and it explains why Teakha has earned a loyal following through word of mouth, thoughtful reviews, and repeat customers who appreciate quality over gimmicks.

  • I thought this nice Chinese resto no longer existed only for Waze to lead me to its new and bigger site about a kilometer and a half away from its former location. What I observed (I hope my taste buds are discriminating enough) was that the food did not seem to contain much MSG, unlike many Chinese restos around. I liked the way the beef noodle soup was prepared, with that noticeable but not imposing flavor of fried garlic in it. Shrimp hakaw and pork siomai were great choices from a list of dimsum specialties. I also loved the fried chicken with oatmeal on my first try. This is another hidden gem in the Kapitolyo Pasig area.

  • Tried Teakha for the first time in their Pasig location and it was so good. It's the perfect spot if you're looking for authentic and delicious Chinese food. I highly recommend the dimsum, fried rice and we even enjoyed the mango sago. Everything was a 10/10! For big groups, you can even book the VIP room for privacy and the service is excellent.

  • Tea Kha Chinese Restaurant is absolutely outstanding! Their dim sum is some of the best I've ever had everything is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The spring rolls are especially superb crispy on the outside, packed with delicious filling, and bursting with authentic taste. And you must try their Pata Tim - it's unbelievably tender, juicy, and melts in your mouth with every bite. The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Tea Kha is definitely my new go-to spot for Chinese comfort food. Highly recommended !

  • Second time here at Teakha and I’m now writing a review because the food is delish. This time around we ordered their Beef Balls and Xiao Long Bao (no photo because it was gone in 60 seconds) for dimsum, Kingdao Spare Ribs, Steamed Suahe, Steamed Crab with Sotanghon, Beef Tendon Noodles, Salted Pepper Squid, Lo Han Chai, and Beef Tenderloin Chinese Style. We ordered a lot because there were four of us plus we had an appetite for some seafood. First off, let me commend the chef for the taste of everything we ordered. All I can say is that the seafood were fresh and did not have that “sea” taste. The shrimp and the crab were just delicious - this is the first time that I actually enjoyed “doing the work” of peeling the shrimp and cracking the crab because of the taste - it’ll make you want to order and eat more rice. The Salted Pepper Squid was good especially with a touch of vinegar. Now some criticism on some of the meat we ordered. The Kingdao Spare Ribs was okay and the Beef Tenderloin was good, they’re both a bit sweet for my taste but the tenderloin was juicy - so i’ll give it additional props for the juiciness. If you definitely like a sweeter side on the dishes you like to order, definitely order these. Overall, our experience here was worth, it’s not Gloria Maris level but it could be. Will definitely try some of their other seafood next time especially the Lapu-Lapu and the Lobster. Will also try out some of their roasting options. If you are craving for some good seafood, definitely check this place out.

  • Went back and it's still our favorite spot for claypot dishes, xiao long bao, etc. the beef brisket noodle bowl seemed smaller but it's still good! Friendly staff as always. _____ 2023: We love it here. Staff are attentive and food is great quality. We already tried the dimsum, hotpot and lauriat set. Lauriat set is truly a feast -- you'll bring home a lot of leftovers. Too many good dishes so I couldn't recommend just one. When we miss Chinatown or Banawe Ave, we just walk to Teakha.

  • They opened at 8AM, perfect for an early morning dimsum breakfast. We ordered hakaw and xiaolongpao and both were steamed fresh upon order and were just what we needed. Ms Tess is super attentive to our needs and made us feel very at home Will definitely come back (and will possibly be regulars hehe)
